AI & Ownership
Last updated 6 November 2026
VYRS uses artificial intelligence to help you write and produce songs. This page explains which AI we use, who owns the results, and what you should know before you release a song.
Which AI we use
- Lyrics, hooks, scoring, co-writer, translation and originality checks: Claude, by Anthropic.
- Ask VYRS (help chat): Claude, by Anthropic, answering from our help pages. We don't store the conversation; answers can be wrong.
- Music, vocals and stems: ElevenLabs Music. ElevenLabs also screens uploads for copyrighted recordings.
Everything VYRS generates is made by AI, guided by your input. The voices in generated tracks are synthetic. They are not recordings of, and are not meant to imitate, any real singer.
Who owns what
- What you put in (your ideas, lyrics, uploaded music) stays yours.
- What VYRS makes for you (lyrics, tracks, stems, artwork): as far as we have rights in it, we transfer them to you. You may use, change and release it, also commercially. This applies to everything made while your plan was active, and keeps applying after you cancel.
- Copyright law is still catching up with AI. In many countries, purely AI-generated material is not protected by copyright, or only the parts with your own creative contribution are. The more you write, choose and change yourself, the stronger your claim. We can't guarantee that anyone has copyright in AI output.
- AI can produce similar results for different people. We can't promise that output is unique to you.
Before you release
- Check originality. VYRS checks generated lyrics against well-known songs and warns you about close matches, but no check is perfect. You are responsible for what you release.
- Say that AI was used where it is asked. Distributors, streaming services, labels and collecting societies (such as Buma/Stemra) increasingly ask whether AI was used. Answer truthfully. Some don't accept fully AI-generated works, or treat them differently.
- Labelling. Under the EU AI Act, AI-generated audio must be recognisable as such. VYRS marks every downloaded MP3 in its metadata as AI-generated. Don't remove that marking or present a track as a human recording when it isn't.
- Credits. List yourself and any co-writers truthfully in your track metadata. Don't credit a real artist who wasn't involved.
What AI can get wrong
AI output can contain mistakes, odd lines, or words that don't fit. It can also, rarely, come close to existing material. Listen to and read everything before you use it.
