Acceptable Use & Copyright
Last updated 6 November 2026
VYRS is for making your own music. These rules keep it fair for you, for other artists and for us. Breaking them can lead to content being removed, or your account being suspended or closed (see the Terms of Service).
Not allowed
- Uploading music you don't have the rights to: other artists' recordings, covers, samples, beats or stems you didn't make or license.
- Imitating real artists. Don't try to make VYRS copy a specific artist's voice, or present output as being by a real artist. Describing a genre or a mood is fine.
- Copying lyrics. Don't paste in existing song lyrics to have them rewritten as your own.
- Harmful content: content that incites violence or hatred, harasses or defames someone, sexualises minors, or is otherwise illegal.
- Deception: passing off AI-generated vocals as a recording of a real person, or using VYRS for fraud such as fake streams or misleading releases.
- Misusing the service: getting around plan limits, sharing accounts, scraping, automated mass use, attacking or overloading VYRS, or trying to get at other users' data.
How we check
- Every music upload is screened against known recordings before it can be used, and uploads that match are blocked. No screening recognises everything: a separate vocal, a remix or a short fragment can get through. Passing the check does not mean you have the rights. That stays your responsibility.
- Your own vocal recordings, added as an extra channel in the console, are not screened automatically. Only upload your own voice or vocals you have the rights to; released vocals of other artists are not allowed.
- You confirm that you own or have the rights to every upload. We record when and from which IP address you confirmed this.
- Generated lyrics are checked for close matches with well-known songs. Close matches are blocked or flagged.
These checks are automatic and help us keep VYRS clean; they don't replace your own responsibility. If we learn that content breaks these rules, through a report or otherwise, we remove it (see below). If you think a check blocked something by mistake, email support@cloudfreaks.nl and a person will look at it.
Report content (notice and takedown)
Think content on VYRS infringes your rights or is illegal? Use Report this song on the song's page, or email info@cloudfreaks.nl with:
- what the content is and where you found it (for example a share link);
- why you think it infringes your rights or is illegal;
- if it is about copyright: which work, and that you are the rights holder or act for them;
- your name and email address (unless you report child sexual abuse material or certain other serious crimes, where you may stay anonymous);
- a statement that your report is accurate and made in good faith.
We confirm receipt, look at the report carefully and act quickly, for example by removing the content or blocking access to it. We tell the person who posted it what we did and why, and how they can object. We tell you what we decided. If someone repeatedly infringes, we close their account.
This is also our point of contact under the EU Digital Services Act, for users and for authorities. You can write to us in Dutch or English.
Objecting to a decision
If we remove your content or restrict your account, you get our reasons. Disagree? Reply to that email within 6 months, and someone not involved in the first decision will review it.
